Angela Thyer, MD   Seattle Magazine Top Doctors 2011

Angela Thyer, MD another founding partner of Seattle Reproductive Medicine, is highly regarded for her expertise in polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS, in addition to her clinical and research interest and experience in the use of complementary medicine approaches with conventional Western medicine. Dr. Thyer also performs female reproductive surgery including laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, tubal reversals, and treatment of fibroids, endometriosis, and Asherman's syndrome.

Dr. Thyer has been awarded a number of research grants focusing on PCOS and its treatment with both medication and dietary changes. She has also completed research in ovarian aging and egg freezing. Her interest in the combined use of traditional and alternative medicine therapies is reflected in her practice, guiding patients to choose the treatment modality that is optimal for their individual situation, whether that is via surgical intervention, lifestyle modifications, or medications, both conventional and natural. She is an expert in guiding patients through both low-tech and high-tech fertility treatments including IVF, PGD, and fertility preservation.

Several years ago, Dr. Thyer recognized the increasing need for third-party reproductive services in Washington and surrounding states. She led the expansion of Seattle Reproductive Medicine's donor egg program, increasing the number and broadening the diversity of available egg donors beyond the Seattle region, the result of which has been reduced wait times for donor egg treatment cycles.

Angela Thyer, MD graduated from Duke University and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Oregon Health Sciences University, and her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Texas, San Antonio. Following her fellowship, she was on the faculty at the University of Washington. She has received The Award for Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Cincinnati OBGYN Society, The Gynecologic Laparoscopy Award from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, and The Resident Research Award from the Oregon ACOG and OHSU Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is board-certified in both OB-GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
